BitLeap Restores Two Years of AR Data for Cohick & Associates

CARLISLE - August 1 2005 - BitLeap, a Carlisle-based managed service provider, recently was called on to recover two years of electronic data for the accounting firm of Cohick & Associates.  Accounts receivable data was lost while performing a routine software upgrade and Bitleap successfully completed a major data restoration.

BitLeap CEO Guy Suter explained, "this wasn't a fire that burned down their building and destroyed equipment, it was a routine benign software upgrade that was at fault. Regardless of why, when the upgrade was done, the data was gone. This is exactly why it is critical for businesses today to ensure they will have a backup should they need it."

Suter also said of the restore, "Cohick & Associates was BitLeap's first data backup customer. They trusted us with protecting their data before anyone else and it is only fitting that they be the first to benefit from our system."  Cohick & Associates owner, Jeff Cohick, commented "I was on a tour of a business incubator site and listened to Mr. Suter & Mr. Snider describe what services BitLeap provided and realized immediately that it was something my business needed.  The recent restoration has convinced me that I had made the correct decision."

The Cohick & Associates data restore demonstrates the value-added service that BitLeap brings to data recovery. Meribeth Brown, Office Manager at Cohick & Associates, commented "I called BitLeap and they had exactly the right information restored in about 30 minutes. That really beats the entire previous day I spent on the phone with support for our accounting software, which produced nothing."

BitLeap's backup system has the ability to restore specific files and not have to roll back entire snap shots. Restoring data in this manner saved the accounting firm from having to roll back to Monday's data.  This procedure would have cost over three days of work by eight employees. Instead, the BitLeap staff helped restore only the lost data while keeping the new information in place.

BitLeap engineer, Lindsay Snider, worked on the data restore, he said "there was a little bit of work on our end to figure out how the accounting software stored data but once we solved that puzzle, finding the right file versions was easy. We restored their files directly back to the original source.  During the restore, no one even had to leave their desk."
